Dear Georgia Licensed Hearing Aid Dispenser,
We are the Georgia Society of Hearing Professionals, a local chapter of the International Hearing Society. Our Society was formed to give licensed dispensers an opportunity to gather for CEU’s, networking and the ability to stay informed about the happenings within our profession. Below are many of the great things offered as part of your membership:
- Political protection for profession
Example: Do you know and understand the upcoming Over-the-Counter bill that is in the Senate? Did you know a bill was introduced and defeated in Ga that would have deregulated dispensing and hearing aid distribution? Being a valued member of the Society will ensure that you are aware of all political issues that arise in our industry and what we as a Society are doing to protect our profession.
- CEU meeting every winter and summer
Currently our license requires 20 CEU hours with 6 of those hours being mandatory face to face. We offer at least two opportunities every year to receive your face to face hours and every two years we offer enough hours to get all of your required hours. As a member you get discounts on attending and also updates about class offerings.
The Society offers a pre-licensing class that promotes licensure in our state. As a member you are notified of the classes that are scheduled twice a year for those interested in becoming a licensed hearing aid dispenser in our state. Members also receive discounts for sponsoring attendees.
- Email Communication to keep you informed
The Society sends out periodically to keep membership informed on current happenings in our profession. They are sent our periodically throughout the year to keep membership informed about events going on in our state but also nationally.
- Networking with fellow dispensers
Our meetings allow for many opportunities to network with fellow dispensers. It is incredible how many bright and smart people there are in our profession. Being a member of the Society allows you to plug into our network of passionate professionals.
Hearing Devices and ALD devices provided to citizens of Georgia with needs
As part of the Society’s Foundation we offer hearing aids and Pocket Talkers to patients in need of hearing help in Georgia. This is a program that was started through a donation to our Society and it is available to our members in order to help someone they know that has a need in their area.
- Wall Certificate & Lapel Pin
As a member of your local chapter Society you will receive a Georgia Society of Hearing Professionals wall certificate to display. This certificate shows your membership to a Society of hearing professionals that are plugged into their profession and are passionate about helping people. You will also receive a lapel pin to commemorate your membership with the society.
- Opportunity to have a voice about your profession and the Society
We all have a voice and sometimes we need to be heard. As a member you have the opportunity to have a voice. You will vote with the other members on how you would like the Society to better protect our profession and serve the hearing impaired. There are many legislative concerns both at the Federal level and even the State level that threaten our profession as we know it. As a Society we work together as a group of hearing professionals and we share information about our profession that provides so much to us and our patients. We are the Georgia Society of Hearing Professionals. We help others-To help each other.
Be a part of our Society. We need you and I bet you need us too.
Thanks,
